Vivian - From relocating to finding meaning in her career by helping others

Vivian recently relocated from Texas and was living in a shelter at this time and expressed that she was eagerly looking for work so that she could get back on her feet.  Her previous work experience included working as a Case Manager’s assistant and several years of cleaning experience while living in Texas. We assisted her by updating her resume before she started to apply for jobs and shortly after that, were able to get her interview attire. Vivian sent her resume to the Convergence Resource Center for a Case Manager position. We assisted her with interview prepping by doing a mock interview, going over scenarios.

Vivans had an interview scheduled with the Convergence Resource Center and impressed the employer by arriving 30 minutes early. During the interview, the owner told her that she had a great interview and during her ride back to her residence she received a call from the employer with a job offer.

Vivian is now working as a Case Manager for survivors of Domestic Abuse and Sex Trafficking and is currently earning $20.00 per hour!

Chris - Significant barriers led him to changing industry to fulfill his goals

Chris had been actively working with our job developers but hadn’t had much luck in finding a job. Understandably, he was feeling discouraged by his lack of progress. He had previously worked as a phlebotomist but felt that the role no longer suited him. He expressed interest in returning to customer service and we provided job leads and kept him informed about relevant job fairs. He was always punctual and committed to his appointments, consistently making progress.

Chris had landed a new job as a Tax Representative at Jackson Hewitt Tax Service. Though the position is seasonal and will only last through the tax season, he is excited about this opportunity! This achievement meant a lot to his case manager who worked with him, because it was not just because of the job itself, but because Chris faced significant challenges, particularly with housing instability and the stress of not knowing where he would be staying or how he would pay his rent.

To see him land a job and regain some sense of stability is deeply fulfilling. We are confident that Chris’s hard work and perseverance will continue to serve him well in the future and we’re so happy for him as he embarks on this new chapter of his career!

Claudia - Getting the training and resources to find employment in the medical field

Claudia was determined to work in the Medical Field and came to the FSET program to find support. When she finished her training in August and started looking for work, she was in need of interview clothing for a Job Fair. Our team was able to get her a professional outfit, and she ended up getting a lot of job leads when she went to the job fair.

Claudia received a job offer to work with Froedtert hospital at one of their Urgent Cares. She said it was perfect even though it was part-time because she was able to make sure her daughter made it to daycare. Now that she received a job offer, she needed scrubs and other items for her job, and we were able to obtain those items for her.

When Claudia came in the following week to speak with her case manager, she said “I’m a little nervous, but I love the work I do!”
