Chyanne - From CNA dreams to enjoying Assembly work

Chyanne goals were to become a CNA and work in the healthcare field. She always made sure to contact me to confirm completion of weekly hours and if she had any questions, always picking up the phone for an appointment even if it was to tell me that she couldn’t make it to the appointment. She attended her CNA Info session on and called me right after to give me an update that she didn’t think she could become a CNA due to some problems in her past. It was back to the drawing board and even though she couldn’t do what she wanted to at first, she didn’t get discouraged. Since she had some experience working in warehouses she started applying for those types of jobs.  

She informed me that she was able to get a job offer at Rockwell Automation, Inc. as an Assembler, where she is making $18.65 per hour. Every time we talk she always talks about how she likes her new job, and how proud her kids are of her. It really showed us how much someone who listens and is patient can really change someone’s life!

Alex - From receiving the resources he needed, to helping him the job he wanted

Alex came into the FSET program in October with interest in obtaining work in a Warehouse and needed transportation assistance to get to interviews and work once hired. He has faced many challenges while looking for work considering he is a Felon. Alex was just about to give up until we explained how FSET cultivates an authentic desire to help others succeed by partnering with third parties to help with participant challenges.

He started Forklift Training with MCSC and completed a week later. The Participant was assisted with Steel Toe Boots, Work Jacket, and transportation. While in training participant had a few struggles that made him want to give up, but he was consistent and obtained his OSHA 10 License as well. Alex was very excited and appreciative of the opportunity to get certified and was eager to meet with a job developer.

While A.C was waiting on his appointment with BSU he obtained a job but couldn’t get there because it was not on a bus line, I provided the participant with FLEXRIDE a car sharing program that helps participants get to jobs located outside of Milwaukee. He was thrilled that there was such a service available to him. 

Alex will be starting his new job in January! He was very appreciative of the service we provide for him. Alex will continue in the FSET program with Job Retention once he starts his new job!

Shawnda - Going back to school to eventually find her dream job

Shawanda was interested in finding full time work within the medical field. She was uncertain which way she needed to go to obtain her Certified Medical Assistant. Shawanda stated that she had gone to college in the past for clinical lab tech but decided not to continue at the time due to personal obligations but was now ready to make a change in her life with a different career path. We were able to assist Shawanda with providing information to further her educational background by giving more insight of what the FSET program offers. Shawanda was beyond excited and ready to do what she needed so that she could complete the goal of obtaining her certification as a medical assistant. 

Once all prerequisites were completed a training referral was submitted and Shawanda began classes. She would always be sure to check in on a weekly basis and would report she was enjoying class. However, she did express that some weeks were tougher than others and we would briefly discuss that it will all be worth it in the long run. Shawanda did in fact pass her classes along with passing her state exams. After completion it was time to begin job searching, Shawanda would attend Maximus job fairs as well as applying for employment on her own. She would get interviews but was not getting any job offers and was becoming discouraged after all her hard work with training. We reassured her that the perfect job would come at the right time.

That perfect job did in fact did come, she was offered an full time position at Children’s Hospital as a Medical Assistant making $22 an hour with benefits. She would go on to accept an Maximus 90-days job retention, a bi-weekly $25 gas card and established an Amazon order for scrubs.
